I used to never shut mine off,until the bowl overflowed and left a puddle of gas all over the floor! Thats a good idea there! I found I can shut mine off by using my middle finger and flipping the shut off up or down,its a hard reach but can be done with the side panels on. IH didn't think that one through when they built it!
