Use 3/16 inch steel and make a set of wings that when tilted left or right will still shed the snow. Set at a forward angle so it acts like a bucket of sorts and holds more snow in front of the blade. Google pro-wings for pick up plows to understand what I'm talking about.
That's what I did to my 54 inch Haban making it 72 inch wide and allowing it to carry more snow. just make it so they can be easily removable so when you get the once every ten year blizzards you can remove them to blaze a trail.
