id say go for it put all the "goodies" on the 782 1 reason is how many 782's do you see with power steering and dual brakes? 2 if its something you want to do go for it as a person who just did a motor swap on a 1862 it was the best thing I did, i took out the M18 that kept giving me problems and put in a 18hp briggs I cant tell you how many people told me to fix the Kohler and use it but im not a fan of kohler I like my briggs flatheads and I have not had one problem out of that briggs since then. starts every time, runs great, has plenty of power to run the 50in deck, and best of all it dont leak oil. My 1862 has power steering and I too have alot of trees and flower beds to mow around and the power steering helps, it also turns alot sharper and is easier to move around things with it.....so in the end go for it cant wait for pictures
