I found a front axle from an 1872 that was in a barn fire. The tires didn't burn all of the way off and the engine was still good (the carb melted). The paint burned off the frame but didn't warp the frame. My question is, how much heat would it take to weaken the cast iron or other parts of the steering assembly (spindles, steering arm, tie rods)?
The seals in the steering cylinder melted also.
