Quietline 1200 question
Seasonal change is due. I got the air filter tins properly attached end of last summer, and now I get to reap the benefits. Are there any tricks to adjust main fuel mixture on the carb without taking off the inner air filter tin? :bash2::bash2:
|
Thanks for the tip! Seems I have a greater problem this time. I took off all air filter tins, to adjust at will single handed both needles. I made great progress, then (with electric PTO engaged ) it started dying again. I think its an electrical problem which i am currently working out now. That stator is putting out. Men are happy! :biggrin2: its putting out 28v ac above idle . The regulator is putting out 12.3 max same speed. If you miss with the VOM leads, it arcs to ground real quick. My amp gage does not read correctly that i can tell, but there is 12.2 v at both sides of it. Now for the kicker. At the battery, at same RPM still, there is 12.1v. What is the problem here?. :bigthink:

Are you checking at WOT? 3600 RPM's? You are within Minimum spec, just barely.
|
I do not have a tach. Its @ WOT, but not neccaraily at 3600 rpms. Im sure there must be a wiring problem, just havent found it yet. the dying problem is worse at WOT,with PTO ON , than otherwise.

I think I ran out of gas when I was working on it. I am going to blow out the fuel line and filter in tank while its empty, and double check tank vent, and get more gas today. When I get it running strong again, Ill check battery voltage at battery, and go cut some grass for a while. Then Ill check battery again.

It was definitely out of gas. Can't believe I let that happen while I was trying to tune it. DUH!!! So, I got it running great. Perfect idle, great acceleration from idle, and great WOT. Back to the same problem- it tends to die with PTO on. It will recover but oh so slowly. at that point, if I turn off pto, it will recover. If I leave it on, its gonna die completely. It acts like timing changed suddenly. I think its time for a new coil, points/ condenser.

oh yeah, btw... my amp gage works now. According to it, charging system is working. :beerchug:

How is the bearing in the PTO? If it is seizing up, it may be pulling the engine down...I have noticed several people in the last few weeks here with that problem.
|
Thats a good idea, but I am 100 percent certain it is perfect. (pto bearing)
Nothing is pulling the engine down. It hardly knows the deck is running. I can start the deck as easily at idle as I can at full throttle. Check this strange coincidence out: On a flat plot, mind you, It always wanted to die facing North , and about the same spot. It will do the same thing other places, but today was really really funny.:biggrin2: |
Well there you go. That's the problem.. The magnetic field of the PTO is being disturbed by Polar North and a magnetic disturbance in the earth's crust creating a magnetic brake on the PTO by forces working against each other. LOL Ok I had to go there. :biggrin2:
