1200 will only run full choke

My 1200 was running fine the other day, was running low on gas and filled it up. Now it will only run with almost full choke. I think it has somw water in one of the cab passages. I tryed today to spay some cab cleaner around the passages and around the float area. no help! I realy don't wont to take the cab off and do a cleaning. If I have to do that I will do a rebuild on it. Any sugestions? One other question I need a muffler, I have a cheap screw on one now with some 1" black pipe. I don't like it at all !!!

Yep, carb needs to come off and be cleaned.

It should be pretty easy to get a muffler for it. If you plan on keeping it awhile I'd get a new one, not used

Brnoco65, I have a good muffler I will trade you for your 65 Bronco! What the heck, I'll trade you the whole tractor for it. :biggrin2.gif:

I had an interesting thing happen a couple of weeks ago that is similar to this situation. I filled my tank with gas, shut the hood, started up to mow and the engine was running terrible. Then it hit me that I forgot to put the gas cap back on, so I did this and restarted it to see what could be wrong making it run so rough and it cleared right up and has been fine since. Does the gas cap have anything to do with the fuel flow? If it is off does it allow to much fuel to flow?

I have gotten bad gas twice now this summer, never had one problem in cars i drive with same gas/station, however something happens when I put it on the mowers.. this was on a Sears Craftsman 24 HP Intek. I'm not sure if it was the sitting in the gas can (nice plastic 5 gallon can) or just bad gas. I also use fuel stabilizer at all times in my Craftsman. Maybe worth a try to change the gas, however the above post on cleaning the carb is what will probably fix it.
