Do you get flak from neighbors for washing & waxing your Cub?

Geez I've only had my 1000 for a week and when I was out in the garage cleaning it up and scrubbing years of grime from the underside, the neighbor was standin around with his hands in his pockets & whining about how he never seen anyone washing up a lawn mower like it's a car, and that I'll probably wax it too ... which I agreed that it would get waxed after getting rubbed out, after the weather warms up, and maybe even Armourall the tires ... and I did get a joke in about "him playin pocket pool".

So he called me Oliver Douglas from Green Acres (you older guys will get this), and then I called him Mr. Kimble, and said I'm glad I'm the smart one, with the hot blonde, haha. All in all, it didn't really bother me, I just explained to him that when you have the best, maintaining it is fun, not work, and that he should come and watch me polish every inch of my Harley Davidson.

I was just wondering if any of you guys have had to deal with neighbors and CC envy.

Yep, but more so with buddies that just don't understand Cub fever. I actually just got done waxing the 782 today. But you have to figure also, most people wont have their box store mowers for more than 3-5 years, so they don't see the need to keep it up, knowing it is going to more than likely fall apart and will have to get another one. I just keep on smiling and cleaning hehehe. My buddy has a Cub 1554 Lowes model. I get all over him for at least not blowing the grass off of it. He says it isn't worth his time. Then he wonders why I am always down there fixing broken rusted parts for him, LOL.

true, true.... I get grief from the wife because the 127 sleeps with a blanket!

you said it gcbailey....the wife gives me more grief than anyone. She thinks I should wash her car and wax it....I told her I haven't done that to my truck in the last 4 years, why would I do it to HER newer car! The cub gets the attention first, then if I get time and I want to enjoy a cold :beerchug:, then I will start on her car. Just a little Ford, not like it takes long - but I still have to raz her about it. Gets her wound up to start into the   :BlahBlah: :Boohoo: GET OVER IT! She is just jellous that she doesn't have a Cub! And she is just too whimpy to admit I am right! :biggrin2:
The neighbour across the road gets a kick outta my tractor I think. He understands about old things. He has lots of things like my Cub - built tough, still kick'n. The people to either side of me....I think they just think its a red tractor. Some people really do not understand. Like you said Allen .... Its a Cub thing!

My wife was skeptical at first, especially when I got the 'O'. When she saw the 127 at first she was "ehhh". But once she got it all fixed up and re-badged she even admitted it was one hot piece! :)

Junior, I just looked at your photo collection and all I gotta say is....yeah, right! Your Cubs are perfect looking. Awesome!!
My neighbors know how I am by now, so I don't get any grief anymore. I take good care of all my stuff...always have. I figure since I work very hard to buy all my toys, the least I can do is treat them properly.

Thanks, I don't know about perfect but I sure do enjoy cleaning them. I couldn't agree more about taking care of them. My dad taught me when I was young, that if you take care of your equiptment it will take care of you. Boy was he right!!
