149 key switch problems.

149 key switch problems. Does anyone have experience with changing to push button start switch?
.

YES.....but why would you want to go back to that type of system..???

It’s my mother’s tractor and she has trouble putting the key in and often leaves it in the on position and drains the battery. She loves cutting with the mower and I would help her keep going.
Thanks Chris

Would the wiring diagram from the O work? It shows the push button.

The push button engages the starter/generator....just like turning the 149's key to 'start'.

If you forget to turn the key off on an Original, you drain the battery, just the same as you would on a 149.

They could put a push pull or toggle switch in place of the key .

No matter what system you have the push button or the key start, you will have to turn it on and off to energize the ignition, with the push button that would be a separate toggle switch. If she forgots to turn it off, does she park it and let it run until it dies (out of gas)! Your mother ought to be old enough by now to learn to turn things off when she is done with them!

Just a thought,
Possibly put a string on the key and have her put it around her wrist or neck like a necklace then she will not forget to turn it off.

Might be looking at this in a slightly different way, but how about an LED or any 12v indicator light? Would at least be a reminder the ignition switch is still turned on, and be a fairly easy task to accomplish.
