Help Needed
 

Im trying to completely split my 107. I have the 6 main transmission bolts out, the engine and grill are out and off frame. (already sold those). Steering wheel went too. There was a guard under front of trans - thats out.
Linkages are still connected- Im still in process removing those with pb blaster helping . Still, I would figure that the rear would move from frame more than it will.

Is it the linkages still holding it or is there something still that I havent found yet?

After I get the hydro rear out, Ill need help getting the control linkages out of the steering tunnel, and / or dash. I need a hint on removing the hydro control handle from shaft. the set screw is out and pb blaster in (a spray a day) Im scared to put a puller on it, or pry on it- I need that and the dash tin.

Is your hydro lever the chrome kind?

yes, it is.

You might try apply force to the the bottom of the handle and forcing it upward (off) by using wooden door shims, you can actually get them in plastic form too which probably would work better in this application. The little wedges that you use to adjust door casings and cabinets. Put 2 of them on the dash close to the handle (one each side of the handle), these 2 will remain stationary, the add shims above them and once you get them wedged in tight under the handle, tap on the upper ones with a hammer, alternating from side to side to apply upward force to the handle. They should exert enough force to pop the handle off. As long as you don't tap on the bottom shims against the dash on each side, you should not damage it in any way.

You might be able to unbolt the linkage under the dash and pull the entire shaft upward allowing enough room to tap the under side of the handle while holding the shaft to pop the handle off.

Never tried either method, just thinking they might work to get that subborn handle off.

Intreresting idea. I would try that. Seems pretty safe, if the person is gentle enough.
