Need help with 782 grill question

Anyone have any pictures or can someone explain how the 782 lower grill insert is held in place:Help: I got the lower grill section with one long thin funny looking spring taped to it. I know I'm gonna find out that it's a simple install but remember that this is my first 782 project and be gentle:biggrin2:

Let me go get you some pics... BRB

There is a small hole in each upper corner of the grille. One end of the spring goes into that. I went from outside in with the end of the spring. On the frame, you will have to take each side panel off to get to this hole the other end of the spring will go. As you can see on the bottom of the grille, there are two tabs towards each end. These fit into a recess on the from. I attached the spring to the frame first then set the tabs in and pull the spring up and onto the grille at each corner. I really like this set up as opposed to the Quietline grille. This allows you to pull the grille outwards to access the PTO belt without having to shove our hand up under the frame or have to remove the grille. You simply pull outwards from the top and then let it pull itself back into position.

I knew I'd find the answer on this site. I just didn't know it would that fast and with nice close up shots:Bowdown2:
Thanks DX3

LOL, well I had just happened to come in from mowing with it and had the camera handy. Is easier for me to show a picture than try to explain sometimes... Glad I could help.

How about a close up shot of that clutch DX? It looks like the odd ball one I have on my 982 that I am having a B#$(& of a time setting up. That's why I am waiting on the service manual.... :bash2:

Sure thing. I'll grab a couple pics in the morning. I may have a link for your manual :). Let me check to make sure.

DO NOT BE ONLY PULLING THE GRILLE AWAY TO REMOVE THE PTO BELT!!!!!!! You will end up breaking the tabs off the bottom of the grille. The best way is to pull the top of the grille back a little bit and then lift the entire grille out of the shell. That way you won't break the tabs off. BTDT!!!

+1, or the pockets in the grille casting. I also have the grille inserts to prove it, thanks to POs of several of my tractors.
