Grille screws won't tighten

Are there some clips that I'll need, or do you guys just put a bolt and nut through them. Definitely would not want to witness that thing fall off and go through the mower deck..... eeeek!

Josh P

It's the 2 screws on the lower grille.

Don't they use a spring like most other Cubs?

Mine has bolts through the mounting holes think they changed to bolts or screws after they had problems with them coming off.Mine came off somewhere haven't ever found it

Josh,

That grill screen should have a 10-24 x 1 pan head machine screw with a washer and a locknut.

Here is what the Parts Catalog says. The only change I would make is to use "NyLock" nuts.

That's interesting...all 4 QL tractors I had used the spring clips.

Copy that! And they are unique in design. Unlike what DX3 is showing us(sorry dude)...they are a lower profile spring to clear the muffler box.Quick removal to remove debris and quick install...just think of the time to use the other hardware to perform the task...tool in one hand, hardware in the other? VS just two simple springs? Made fast assembly at Louisville Works going down the line or at the dealership?

LOL, no worries, I was basing it on what was on my 1250. But that was probably a PO fix. :beerchug:

Those springs would be correct for 72 thru 169.
