106 vs 1450

I have a chance to get 106 or a 1450. The guy wants $50 more for the 1450, and otherwise they are both in the same (good/functional) condition. I wanted some feedback on the pros and cons of each. The hydro/hydraulic lift on the 1450 seems like a plus, but the 106 comes with a blade and a spare (but in need of rebuild) engine. Thanks

Would you have a pic? I would get the 1450. Very good cub and it has hydro lift.

The wide frames and QL series are much easier to work on than the narrow frame cubs. The 1450 is a quietline series tractor. The hydro lift is a huge plus if you plan on using attachments like a moldboard plow, snow/dirt plow on the front and or maybe a tiller. Some things to be aware of on the 1450 is the possibility of worn out ISO bushings on the motor. Also you may need to adjust the hydro linkage and possibly do a trunion repair. All of this sounds maybe a bit much, but is really just taking your time and following instructions to get it right. I had a 1250 and really like it. It had the 14 hp motor in it and I can say that motor will do anything you plan on using it for.

I hate to have a lot of info for the 1450 and none for the 106, but I really don't have a lot of history with the narrow frame models and can't give you much feedback about those... I know some more guys here with even more info than what I have given will chime in. Good luck with your decision and we hope to see some pics. :beerchug:

I dont have pics yet.Im hoping to get back over there tomm to finalize things. Thanks for the info. I am leaning toward the 1450. I prefer the look of the 106, but function over form. The hydro and hydraulic lift are nice to have. I only maintain @ 3/4 acre and a small garden. I have a 108 right now,so id have to adjust to a hydro, but from what i read its a nice feature to have.

1450 FTW!! Between the Hydro drive and lift, plus 4 extra ponys for only $50 makes it a no-brainer to me!!

Even though i have never had a wide frame,i would go for the 1450,with the hydro lift it will be a much more useful tractor. The 106 is a great tractor,i have one and love it,but seems how you have a 108 already, the 1450 seems to be the best choice.:beerchug:
