Any opinions / pics of the 108 model ?
 

I'm cooking up a deal with a forum member on one of these with a manual transmission, through my want ad, and was wondering if any of you have some good pics of this model. I wouldn't mind seeing a restored / original one. And any opinions on this model? I only plan to use it for light mowing, and a little snow pushing with blade a few times per year.

Any thoughts / opinions / pics appreciated.

Guitar Guy, I have a 108 with a 48" deck. Does a good job mowing, though sometimes gearing is either too fast or too slow. Tough tractor. Don't have any pics, still in hibernation.

I have an 86 which is the same generation, just 8 hp instead of 10. I just put some pictures in this thread:

I think the 10 hp is a larger engine so it will look a little bigger under there most likely. They seem to cut pretty good as I recall having mowed a couple years with a 1200.

The gear drive is dead reliable and stout. Not bad to mow with but if it was my primary mowing machine I would look at the front axle upgrade to decrease the turning radius (I think they call this the "super steer" upgrade). All the cubs have a wide turning radius compared to newer machines. Second gear is ideal fro this.

Guitar guy, here's some pics of my 108. She has a 126 rear end, but everything else is a 108. I'm in the middle of replacing the clutch, it'd be a good idea for you to ask about the clutch on the 108 you're looking at. If it hasn't been replaced it will probably need some work.

Josh, the 108 is a nice tractor. I had one few years ago, it will do the jobs, you have for it. :beerchug:

Thanks much for the info and pics, folks. That's a nice pic with the willow tree in the background. I think it would be a nice model for me. I'll update if I get it.

Its a solid tractor. I mow a 3/4 acre lot and it does a nice job. I thought 10hp might not be enough, but its up to the task.
