Model 73 throttle question

Hey all. Yesterday my friend was showing me his model 73 that he picked up last year, and is in pretty nice condition.

He was telling me that the throttle will not stay in position, and that the vibration causes it to back itself off. He caught his wife using a bungee cord to keep it in the wide open position.

I told him I would post the problem on here to see if you guys know if there is something that needs tightened up, or if he needs a new throttle lever mechanism, and approx how much the item would cost.

If anyone has any suggestions, or familiar with this issue, please let me know. Thanks.

Josh

I am not sure if the throttle lever on those NF's are the same as say on my 128, but when I was taking apart the tower and dash I found out that you can tighten or loosen the bolt that holds the lever to the mount. This will of course in turn loosen or tighten the lever as needed. Mine was too tight and about a quarter turn made it just right, now I don't have to replace it :)...

There is a tension screw to set the tension on the trottle cable.
