Correct Original Hood Decals

1 Attachment(s)
My 62 Original is next for paint. You can see the existing replacement decal that is on the hood from a early repaint. Decal is not correct.I think I know where the incorrect decals came from but not going to point fingers. I knew they were not correct when I brought the tractor home. I've had several collectors tell me that they are not correct so...it's time to make it correct!

I believe that the incorrect decals are actually the factory replacements.

Ya, I've often wondered about the font on the 'O'... I've saw several who people have sworn were original with the italicized cursive and others with the straight cursive.... Even the block letters (cub cadet) with different width fonts... I don't know enough nor was/is it my place to correct someone. Here's my hood...

I looked into both when I did the "O". I compared mine with what was left over from the original decals. I went with what your changing it to, from Maple Hunter. I think AJ is right I have seen the one that's on your tractor that guys have gotten from a closed dealer or found them NOS. I like the smaller version personaly, and it's what you see in all the early photo's of them in production. Here is mine.

Why become so picky? They both look great.

Nik,

Nik,

just because. :) I've still got 2 decals that I'm unsure of location for my 127... I've pretty much got OCD so there are some things that even though it looks good, will bug the crap out of me until I know it's correct. Then I can be the total opposite end of the spectrum on other things!

Anything looks better than those cubs painted green and yellow or purple, whatever!

My wife has CDO. It's like OCD but in alphabetical order.

Theres nothing wrong with being picky lol. Im actually kind of dreading getting decals and stuff for mine when i get to that point im already finding myself being picky about things that wont even be seen on my "O" I dont know how bad its going to get when i get to the stuff that will be seen on it :biggrin2:

there is something to be said for those who want things looking/working/done right vs. being all jacked up. Although sometimes all jacked up is a pretty good way to go.

Nik,

I use to not be so picky until I got deeper into this addiction. I have several "Cubologists" "Cub Guru's" or simply put it CUBNUTZ! that visit often. A few transplants from north of the Mason/Dixon line to southern born & bred. They all have at least ONE thing in common...IH Cub Cadet. After taking in their input and history of these machines I would take it further to find out more for myself. My wife knows more than most ladies, reading from Kenneth Updike or Cadetconnection (which I'm proud of). So,back to the correct decal issue...in the Original production years IH used a rubber ink stamp not a decal and the stamp looks like the decal of choice...we know a gentleman that has one the stamps and has turned down MEGA $ for it...I did not mean to stur up a hornet's nest about the issue...I'll just blame it on the "Cubologists"--LOL!
