Cub Cadet injury
Well, I went out yesterday afternoon to pick up a Cub Cadet off a gentleman and ended up having to go the ER!
We were pushing it up on my trailer and the undercarriage got caught on the mesh gate. We backed it off and I tried to shove the spring mechanism down to pull the mule drive out and it snapped and my thumb got wedged somehow between the carriage and the shaft. I was caught for 10 minutes in the tractor. Smashed my thumb pretty good. I have no feeling in my thumb at all. The doctor said it severely bruised all the nerves in my thumb. I might have to part this one out because it smashed my thumb!!! hehe Just kidding! It is pretty rough though. |
Yikes! 10 mins! That had to suck. I hope you heal fast you've got a project to take pics of and to finish!:biggrin2:

Thanks guys.
Duke, Yeah, it did suck! We couldn't figure out what was holding me. Everytime he tried to move something it increased the pressure on it. I'm glad someone else was there. I would still be there! Eric, This 1200 sure fought back! |
So sorry to hear that. Hope you have a quick recovery!
|
Thanks Allen!
Me too! You don't realize how much you use your thumb until you can't! |
That sucks Mike. It seems like cubs like to fight when you work on them.

Yikes I can feel that up here in central NY. Hope your thumb mends up quickly. :bash2:

I was changing the drive shaft on my old Chevy blazer when I was about 17. I didn't have any help. So I was trying to hold the (back) end of the shaft up with my foot while I was tightening the bands on the (front) u-joint. Yea , the shaft slipped of my boot, my thumb was pinched in between the u-joint end cap and ear on the yoke with the weight of the whole shaft hanging on it. Needless to say it was smashed pretty bad. Probably should have went to see someone about it, but young and ( it will be OK) took over. after about 10-12 years I finally regained most of the feeling in it.
Consider yourself lucky that you cant feel it. We all know how many times a day we bump that finger after we just smashed it. |
Sorry to hear about your injury. Get well. I guess you'll have too name the 1200 "Christine" since it attacked you.
