Lift
hello, I was thinking of putting an elect. lift on my 127. Besides the unit and the guard and wires, what else has to be done. What about the rockshaft? do you modify the orig one or, do you need to get a different one? Thanks In advance.

Jason,
You do need to modify the rockshaft and the lift bracket, why bother? How a out a spring assist instead? You are a Big young strapping fellow, why would you need that? I think a hydro pump would be the way to go though... |
I'll do my best at your question. I have an electric lift unit that I have had sitting around and I've been waiting to find a cub to put it on, so I haven't installed it yet but I have all of the pieces. Besides that unit and wiring, you will also need a rocker toggle switch for it and a special plate with a post that needs to be welded onto the frame to hold the electric lift unit. Your rockshaft will need to be replaced or modified. If you want to modify your current one, then you will need to cut it as specified in the manual for the electric lift. You will also need to weld on a bracket onto the modified portion of your rockshaft at a specified distance (again, in the manual). I think Patton Acres has a couple of the complete rockshafts, so it might be easier just to purchase one of those. Again, I've never installed one but I remember the parts. I would attach pictures but those parts are miles away right now. I'm sure someone will post some good pictures for you soon.....if not, then I'll snap some when I get a chance.

Well mr Lew, I am a Big strapping fellow, but not as "young" as I used to be haha......I actually do have a spring assist on the 127, but there is a local guy that might part a 147 out........I have dibs on the lift...... |
you might as well get all the parts you need described by CubCadet 123.You may be better off getting the frame off him if possible so you would not need to weld that bracket for the lift on it.

I have a 147 with a broken electric lift, I bought two parts lifts that were broken the same way mine was so I'm back to square one. I'm finding out that good parts are hard to find, and the guys that have working ones want alot for them. I see that another poster said that he had one, will you sell it? Please post here, or PM me. thanks. Can the tractor be refitted to a manual lift. I use a mower deck and a rototiller on it.

ya Jay... don't you want your right biceps 4" bigger than your left ones? It's not called "armstrong" for nothing!!
