127 noise suppresion muffler

Does anyone know if the noise suppression muffler and air filter for the 128, 149, etc would fit on my 127? Along the same lines, how loud is the 127 supposed to be? There don't seem to be any holes in the muffler BUT the tractor is kind of loud.:Shhhh:

papaglide,
Not sure if the noise suppression stuff fits the 127 or not but mine purrs nicely at low idle and is about normal for a mower at speed.

Might want to see if the mufflers seated fully into the exhaust port?

Thanks jkier. I use my 1882 all of the time and that engine sounds much quieter and just purrs all of the time.. The 127 idles very nicely but at speed it just seems kind of loud and "chugs". Maybe I am just too used to the 2 cylinders on the other cub.

Unless you have a "pepper shaker" style muffler on your 127, to the best of my knowledge the muffler on your 127 should be the same as the 10 hp and larger Wide Frame tractors...

I was wondering if you meant to ask about the muffler on the Quiet Line series tractors. The short answer is no, it wont fit without modifications. However, with some time effort and probably some cleverly bent exhaust pipe I'm sure you could make it work.

I would be interested to know if it would make the engine any quieter.

You could add a quiter Muffler , I live Close to a Mower shop that sells all types of mufflers for Tractors and mower , So Anything is possible ,, But you might get a small loss of power with that muffler ,, Might try a new original style to see if the old one might have burned out a baffle or one has a larger hole in it ,, Just some suggestions :bigthink:

Yeah baffles will rust/rot out and like any other part eventually needs to be replaced.
I added my own cans to a 1872 that had a blown baffle, sound much better now.

I have fitted a Quietline mufflers to a 129 and 169 by turning the pipe in the block so it tilts the muffler upward. Made a couple of custom brackets to support the muffler where it would normally be supported by a Quietline's aluminum plate. I posted picture's of the 169 with the Quietline muffler in the Custom section showing the conversion of the electric PTO.

Not sure if a QL muffler could be tilted up enough clear a narrow frame grill housing, and another challenge is the grill itself would need a hole for the muffler outlet pipe.

Another route is to convert it to a Supertrapp.

I saw this kit on the CC Warehouse site: its called a "OEM NOISE SUPPRESSION MUFFLER KIT" fits K241 K301 K321 ENGINES 108 109 128 129 149. Was wondering if it would fit the 127.
