Hydrostat Breather
Well I was out in the shed last night putting Christmas away and went over to check out my 129. On the floor under the Hydro was a puddle of Hytran. It always leaked a little, but this was excessive.
On a previous post a month or so ago i asked about the breather on the Hydro. Tried cleaning it with Brakleen and a brush but I think maybe I just sealed it up like some of you suggested.Didn't run it much after that since winter set in. I'm thinking the leak is from the plugged breather and would like to adapt a 90 degree fitting with a tranny breather on the fill plug. Do any of you guys know what NPT the fill plug is? Thanks for your time, Joe |
There is NO threads for that breather, It is a "press" fit.

Do you mean what threads the fill/check plug has? I think its 1/2" pipe thread but cant remember for sure. I did that one time on the 169. Came out of the fill plug with an elbow then up a little to keep from sloshing out. Didn't make any difference on mine. It was leaking between the hydro and the rear. Had to replace the gasket. I did find a new breather to replace the original. I think R.F. Houtz is where i got it. |

Yes, I meant the thread size of the fill plug. Thanks guys for your response. It really only became worse after I tried to clean the breather.
