Squeak noise in Kohler KT 17
Hello guys. I need some advise on a problem with my Cub Cadet 782. Was using tractor with scrapper blade this morning and was hearing a squeaking noise coming from the engine. The noise is not constant but seems to be getting worse. I purchased this KT17 Series II engine last year off ebay and was told at that time the engine was only 2 years old. Another thing with this engine, when mowing with 50" deck, and mowing pretty thick and tall grass the engine seem to not have enough power as the RPM slow down when going through the grass. I tuned-up the engine but that did not fix the power problem. Any suggestions as to what might be my problem would be appreciated.

Can you tell what part of the engine the noise comes from? Could be the pto bearing if it's coming from the front. Depending on how tall and thick the grass is, it'll loose maybe a few hundred rpm's with the 50" deck.

Good morning aagitch and Wild Bill and thanks for your input. The noise seem like it is coming from the front and top side of engine. I was thinking it might be in area around the governor. I'm not using mower deck right now, so I could remove the PTO and see if that might be the problem. I will remove the sheet metal and check head gaskets to see if they might be leaking. One other thing I've noticed is engine is not real response to the throttle. Was wondering if I might have a problem with the governor. Couple times when I was moving some dirt, with the blade, the engine RPM increased and I never touched the throttle. Is it possible I have a fuel problem? Could the fuel pump make the squeaking noise?
