? re. Mounting IH wheel weights (2 each side) on 1650...

I've looked at the options and have decided to bite the bullet and purchase IH wheel weights (the $100 dollar a 50lb set white ones) for my 1650 for snow duty. I'll be pushing an IH 48" blade.

My question is, what/how do the weights mount to the wheels and will I need to purchase/find mounting hardware as well? If so, I'm planning on really biting the bullet and going with 2 each (weights) on each of the rear wheels. I believe this is a supported configuration. Is some other form of mounting hardware required to mount 2 on each side vs. 1 per side?

Thanks for any input. I just want to make sure I get everything I need in one shot. I'm really pushing it having waited this late to get what I need, so don't want to have weights sitting around unusable while I wait on hardware I didn't know I also needed to arrive :-)

Thanks,

-Calvin

The hardware can be found at any hardware store so don't worry too much about it. If you mount both of them on the outside, you can use 1/2" carriage bolts with the head on the rim side. If you look at your rims, you will see the square holes for the heads. If you mount the weights on either side of the rim, most people use 1/2" all thread. I just advise being sure to use lock nuts on them.

Like AJ said, Just use 1/2" carriage bolts. With 2 sets, I'm using 8" bolts I believe.

As stated above, the mounting hardware is not an issue. IMHO, I think weights on the inside and outside of the wheel look the best.

Regardless of what you decide to do, just make sure that the mounting bolts are as close to flush as you can get them on the outside of the wheels. Otherwise, you can expect to tear some pants and flesh/bone on them real soon!
