IH 122, no spark

Hey all

i just put a Donor Kohler K241 engine in from a Cub Cadet 104 into my 122. now it doesn't have any spark....is the wiring harness from a 104 different from the 122? if not then what is the problem? coil is brand new, coil wire, brand new spark plug, all the wires are hooked up correctly. please help?

A
1: turn the key on, check for power to the coil.
2:crank it over...check the same while cranking.
3: check both sides of coil. if you have power in, and none out, the coil is bad.
a- Make sure it is wired correctly:
Harness to Neg -, points to pos +.
If no juice, check connections, or the ign switch is bad.
If juice is in (-), not out (+) then coil is bad.
If all is good
B
1: pull the points, file, or replace and gap accordingly.
If still no spark, change the wire and plug.

It's not rocket science. very simple.
When you do the points, check, and double check.
Usually it's the most simple, stupid reason that was overlooked.

Thanks for your reply.

but...on the K301 that came out of the engine, the harness was connected to the + side of the coil. and the points and condenser on the - side of the coil. so i would assume itd be the same for this K241. same goes for my 102 as well.

Also, if you look at the wiring diagrams for the 104 and 122 int he technical library:

The only real difference is the fact that the 104 has an ammeter, but i believe that too was optional.

Yup, Wire loom to + side of coil, - to points and condenser.

Use your 12V test light to find out where you have power and where you don't.

You are all correct. I'm always wrong on that.
Don't ask me why....I must be dyslexic.
I checked my 124 before putting that in, and It's obviously backwards....strange, it's been that way since I bought it...still runs like a champ.
*note to self - Switch wires on coil on 124...check 122*
