Think I made a small error
 

i think i put the pto side oil seal in backwards. has anyone ever done this. will it leak? if its not going to leak i dont think its a big deal. these engines are not presurized. i put the oil seal and i was looked at the k241 i have on other side of the garage and i realized i made the error. oops, now the seal wont come back out without dissembling the shotblock(removing the bearing plate and crankshaft) OR buying a new seal. if it does leak at some point in its life, can the seal be removed without taking the engine apart?

i took the crank back out, drove the seal out and reinstalled the proper way. better to fix it now then take a risk having it leak. didnt take that long either, maybe an hour. i had to make sure that the timing marks were alligned and i had to retorq everything. at least its done

Probably a good thing you changed it. There is some internal pressure from the piston moving up and down and the oil could have possibly leaked or squirted out with each revolution of the crank shaft.

I will have to agree with Yosemite Sam, better off fixing it now. Most all my experience has come from automotive and chainsaw repairs but it has been my experience that a "backwards" seal leaks.
