Swapping Engines Question Kt17 to M18 Tractor

Has anyone ever switch a engine where you put a kt17 into a m18 tractor? I have an engine from a 782 which is a KT17 and am wanting to put it into a 1862 that had a M18 engine in it. Seems easy enough except for the wiring from the engine to the tractor. Has anyone ever done this and could you please share some tips? :bigthink:

I really hope if you downgrade like that, that its a kt17 series 2!!! I dont know much more about any mounting differences, or wiring, etc. I have 2 kt-17 series 1 engines sitting around, that i havent decided whether I really want to bother with them. Both are locked up and I know what the trouble is... they came from JD 317s. haha. rods broke and /or seized to crank.

Its a (series I) rebuilt two years ago and ran good but I swapped for a stronger re-power in the 782 that I use for tilling and other heavy duty stuff. I have a 1862 roller that is in great shape but has a crappy engine that has some sort of internal engine problem. The KT17 (series I) I have runs strong but it's just sitting around gathering dust.

On initial thoughts, you should not have a mounting problem. You may have some electrical issues but I think that could easily be modified.
