K161 issue

While removing the muffler from a K161 engine the pipe broke off in the block. What is the best way to get that out? Here are some pics.

Get a hack saw blade and cut the pipe a little until you start to see the threads. Don't do to deep or the exhaust will leak around the threads. Get a pointed punch or center punch and work the pipe to the center of the port. I've done it this way with great success.
Good luck!!

Thanks for the info. What size is the hole, would you run a tap on the threads?

I believe it's 1" NPT. I doubt you have one of those taps around, and they are not cheap. You can make a crude thread chaser by cutting a slot in the end of a piece of threaded pipe. That's probably clear as mud. I don't have a picture to describe what I'm talking about.

I don't have a tap that big, but I have a friend that might. The threaded pipe with a slot in it is a great idea and much cheaper than a 1 inch tap.

Thanks!!

Sorry about the Ebonics from my previous post. I corrected the missed spelled words. I think.
But any way if you can't find a tap use a correct size pipe and back cut a groove like someone had stated but cut it on an angle. I use a wiz cutter. Like a circular saw blade tooth. USE COPIOUS(big word) AMOUT OF LUBE!!!!
Good luck!!
