Electric PTO Switches

2 Attachment(s)
Merry Christmas all!

Why is the PTO switch off of my 1978 1200 different from every other PTO switch I have?

Thought it would be any easy swap/fix. But, of all of the spare PTO switches I have in a box, none of them have the same terminal pattern. :bash2:

The 1200 is wired for the smaller one (shown in the middle of the three). I am pretty much opposed to cutting into the original harness to make the others fit.

Questions, comments, suggestions???

Thanks!
Steven

You could make up short jumpers to adapt one of the other to work. Just be sure to insulate them well to keep the ends from shorting together if they get in a bind. This should only be used as a temporary fix, and should be replaced by the proper switch asap. Good luck.

My guess is the other two PTO switches you have are 82 series. The QL PTO switch was different. I'd just get a new correct switch. Surprisingly, it appears to be less than $30. Part number 925-3022.

Thanks guys!

I've resigned to the fact that I am better off just buying a new one that is correct for the harness. Hard to believe that I do not have the correct one on hand.

I like to keep the Cubs as close to OEM as possible. Extra goodies not withstanding!

Hope to dive into the 1200 by mid January. Not a difficult rehab project. Just need to replace a lot of the drive train parts.

Thanks again for the input!
