Starter change over?
Is it possible to change a K301 with a S/G to a Solid State Charging System? Is there a conversion kit or parts list to do this? :bigthink:
I've done it on my 109 but you need a wide frame to make room for the larger flywheel and fan shroud!
This engine is going in a 1250 frame. I know I need a starter, flywheel, shroud, and stator. What else is needed to do this conversion? Is it just a bolt on and go or is there some mods that need to be made?
You will also need the bearing plate that the stator bolts to and a regulator. I am glad I converted mine, I dont miss that s/g at all! Check E bay, lots of parts there.

Thanks for the information. I was curious about that plate on the back of the motor. :beerchug:

This engine that I will be converting I think is out of a 122. The serial number plate is also missing. I keep seeing k301a, k301as. k031aqs. How can I tell what engine this is? Does it make a difference on the brearing plate, stattor, flywheel, and/or starter?:Help:

When I did my 109 I didn't pay much attention to model numbers, I don't even know if the parts I used were from a 10 hp! I am pretty sure the bearing plates an flywheels will fit between different models, but not sure about the 16hp, I know that block is a little different. The stators are pretty much the same other than the current ratings.

Thanks for the info 104strad. I would still like to know the difference between the "series" of k301 motors. If they are all the same, what is with the letters after k301 on the engine tags?
Not sure about those model numbers, I just put a k301 in my 109 that was in a 1250, and I think it was a aqs model. By the way what happened to the motor that was in your 1250?
I bought it with out a motor and a few other items. 50 bucks, couldn't pass on it! It is going to be a puller/worker.
