Seat edging/binding?

What's the proper term for the edging/channeling that goes around the seat? Everything I'm googling just isn't coming up with the results I want. I want to order the replacement seat cover from Coleman's, but they don't sell that edging/binding/channeling/grooving/whatever!

Thanks!!!

You might check with an upholstery shop or something like that. At one time I needed to buy some and I'd probably have checked a place like that, but I've had enough rusted out seats with good edging that I probably have enough spares to get me by at this point.

Hello gcbailey,
Thje stuff you are looking for is called windlace or pinchweld.
Here is a link to metro http://www.metrommp.com/productimages/640/LP200C.jpg

I bought some this year at the Pomona CA swap meet.
The guy was selling extruded rubber seals for universal applications.

Thanks Mizar!!

Matt - I called a local automotive and all things related upholstery company and they won't sell it unless they do it.

www.kirkengines.com has the trim for the seat and also fits the hood edge. Scroll down close to the bottom and you will see it. $6 for a 28 in piece or he will cut to length for you if you contact him. The website only works for Internet Explorer. It does not work with Firefox. FYI.

I still have to get on this.... However, I'm thinking that I'm going to need a new seat base. I've noticed that two of the nuts tacked up in the seat have popped loose leaving me with one mount one each side holding the seat onto the brackets, I don't know if there's anyway to fix that or not...

I ended up welding actual bolt nut's to mine when I removed my old seat cushion and painted the seat pan. Gave me a chance to also remove the rust under the foam and primer and paint it real good.

I've been wondering about seat repairs too. I saw the edging from kirk's, and the reasonably priced seat covers from coleman's. Is that the best recommended method for restoring a seat? Do those covers have the foam attached, or is padding / foam needed? Are there any threads or pics of someone doing one? Thanks, any info appreciated.

Josh
