Trunion sideplate??

So my trunion is worn and I have runaway hydro syndrome. I know to take the trunion out you need to dissemble the hydro.

I want to weld the slot and do the filing on the tractor without having to take the hydro apart.
Im having a heck of a time getting the side plate seperated from the trunion:bigthink:. I removed the snap ring and it doesnt want to come. I dont want to "beat" on it as the hydro is just behind the trunion plate. any suggestions? PB blaster and penetrating oil dont seem to help. Am i correct in assuimng the side plate can come off and still leave the trunion with springs on the hydro? thanks for the input in advance.

GOT IT. With liberal amounts of rocking back and forth It finally decided to actually starting moving for and aft seperate from the trunion. An hour or so of fiddling and it finally started moving. the shaft was pretty rusty underneath. thanks.

Glad to here you got it seperated rfrank :Woo:

The last one i did a few weeks ago, the snap ring was what gave me trouble. I got to get some better snap ring pliers.

Sir
When you put it back together make sure thoes two plates dont stick!!!They operate sepreatly but together!! ..........Get it LOL, If you have alot of play....Side to side inn the outter plate when you reassemble it you can put shims behind the snap ring. The outter plate is the speed control cam assembly and the inner plate is the damper spring assymbley.......Worthless trivia of the day!!!!LOL
Good luck
Jason

I would clean the rust off that shaft with some fine sandpaper and then grease before reinstallation.
