125 fluid change
5 Attachment(s)
Well here's were I'm at on the fluid change. I got the tractor up on jack stands on the rear and the hoist and block on the front so I can reach it. Loosened the bolts on the rear cover anticipatipating 7 quarts of fluid coming out, and supprise, not even three!
The fluid that was in it was very clean, who would of thought? Anyway, I cleaned out the remainder of the fluid inside and the gasket on the cover, (yet to do around the case where the gasket seals). I will be putting on the new gasket and getting the tractor back on the floor before I do the filter, that way I can raise it up with the hoist and get under it, being in the chair, I do things a little different than (normal)! My question, there should have been 7 quarts of fluid, right? I understand there will be some in the filter, but there won't be much that will drain from it, will there? Here's a few pictures. |
The proper fluid level is roughly where the hydro output shaft meshes with the driven reduction gear.

Ok, but it said in the manual, 7 quarts, will that be about up to the filler hole on the rear cover?

I think the last time I did my 127 I could only squeeze in a little over 5 quarts...I know I can easily fit 7 in my 1211....the filter holds about a quart or so, and the axle tubes take some time to fill up as well. When I do my 127 I fill it up to the fill hole in the rear end cover, then let it sit for a while.....I'll come back an hour or so later, and add some more when the level drops...its just slowly filling the axle tubes.

Yep, 7 quarts puts it at the edge of the the fill hole.
If you take off the fenders and that top cover on the rear, you can dump in all the fluid in about 30 seconds. http://onlycubcadets.net/forum/attac...9&d=1290290691 |
