more stupid questions....
Hi ALL,
I have a couple more questions that all of my post digging did not yield answers for........would any of the early Yawn Deere(pardon my language) models have the same gas tank as the original? or is the sediment bowl outlet too far inward? next...... looking at the rear of an original, what direction does the PTO turn, ccw or cw, and at what RPM? i think i stumbled upon a BOATLOAD(a closer inspection will be needed) of used PTO setups for my "O". last but not least, any leads to a download of the "creeper" manual for my "O". i'm sure that the wealth of knowledge and experience here will get all my ????? answered! Well, I dont know nothing about jd. It is best to repair/replace the Original gas tank....if thats what you are talking about. The other questions have been answerd many times. If I come across them, I'll let you know. A rear pto on a Original will turn counter-clock, if my memory serves me at all.

I am pretty shure that the jd gas tank had the inlet to far in so it wont work
go here for info on how to remove rust in a tank Click here Here is the creeper install manual for your original and Here is the parts list for the ud-6 |
Hey samspops!! ljones I don't think your links are working, at least for me they were a deadend. So I'm reposting links for UD-6 install manual and parts manual. Hope they work for ya!!

Thanks ljones and sminkey. i knew that the very early JDs' used Kohlers, but my memory was slipping as to whether or not the spigot was set further in than the cubs. my tank is fine other than a very small weep in the factory seal. i'll take it off and sweat it when i do some painting this winter if we don't get thunder whumped with snow. by the way....THANKS kindly for the links to the manuals....it's been over 30 years since my last "O", and need a refresher on the lube service for the "creeper". when i get done messin' with it and get it all painted up, i'll definetly fire off some pictures! then i'm guessing i'll have to start looking for a 70 or a 100!!!!
