carb score

i just found three carter carbs in a box of goody's i picked up at a yard sale. the numbers on the inside of the throat are 13,16,22. does anyone have any idea what size engine these will work on? i'm also trying to get my k161t, yes k161t back in running condition. the original is getting absolutely no attention and would really like to work for me this winter. i have a front plow my dad made for it back in the 70's, but the frame needs a little reworking. i've seen some other engines online i'd like to pick up and i'm not sure if these carbs will fit. thanks, rick.

Ricks,
they wont work on any kohlers above 10hp.

thanks for the reply ljones. they need some going over and it looks like i've found a backup engine for my original. does your "o" have a starter or a recoil? i think i have one of the few recoils around. i don't hear any talk about this feature so i 'm not sure which direction to take with this engine. i know it runs, i've just been having problems with the recoil frame. it has a broken off leg and doesn't stay centered over the cup. i've been using a pull cord wrapped around the pulley to get it going. this is the feature that came with it. why they had this on some engines, i do not know. it's beaten me a few times, but i won't be denied a ride. time for a new/used recoil.

Ricks,
No mine has electric start, and yes the recoil start originals are rare, if I had one I would keep it recoil start.

My 10 horse power Kohler in my 100 has a 26 carb and my 7 horse power in my 70 has a 22 carb.

The 22 carb is for a 7 or 8 horse power Kohler motor.

The 13 and 16 are probably for a K91 or something like that, and aren't going to work on any CC engine you have.

i was kinda figuring that's what i found. i can still clean them up and get them ready for usage. that old 7horse is giving me problems now and i can't even get a sputter with the pull cord. i wish there was a way to get it running without converting to elec start.

Ricks,
The way I adjust my recoil O is pull the cord a little to engage the dogs and tighten the bolts that holds the cover on. I think there is a procedure in the manual.
If you wave a broken leg that might not never get centered. Is the drive cup scored up?

ricks 11-19-2010 07:46 PM

mmzullo, the cup is new but has become slightly chewed due to the recent attempts. i believe the piece that engages the dogs is home made and i can't find the correct one. i have made several attempts to re-manufacture another with no positive results. it used to work back in the 70's when i first picked it up. but that's when my dad was showing me the ropes, so to speak. so until then, manual winding.
