147 hydro control question

Hey Guys

Been running my 147 for 2 summers now, hasn't missed a beat.

Only real issue I've got with it, its got the slowing down on the up hill/speeding up on the down hill issue. I've seen the FAQ and understand the springs operation. Pulled the seat pan and found that my mechanism has been rebuilt already. I did check it against the measurements and it appears the slot it slightly longer than the spec (measuring with a tape measure, seems to be 1 1/4" versus the 1.20" in the spec) but I don't see any of the normal "wear" that appears to be present on these items in the right ups.

I'm probably gonna stick new springs in it upon reassembly, but my question is, do I worry if it is not exactly 1.20"?

Dare I shim the pins to deliver the proper spring compression? (slide a shim between the springs and the pins) Or will new springs most likely cure the issue?

Is there any "spec" to determine if the springs are bad?
