CAN you put a 14 HP carb on a 12 HP motor?
 

I am swapping out the blown 14 hp and putting a 12 hp back in. The carb on the 14 hp was just overhauled this spring and 12 hp looks ugly. Wondered if it will work or not...

look inside the throat (where the butterfly is) and see if it has a number on it. should be either a #26 or #30, if it's a kohler carb. either should fit. i have a #26 that came off my 10hp on a 12hp. runs excellent. jeff

From what I have learned here, it is too much for the 12hp engine. Should probably stay with a #26 carb.

bignastyGS I tried a 30mm carb on my 125 once and they do not run worth a darn. About the only way it would run is full throttle and it would not lean out very well.
