Original transmission "KNOCK" Hello OCC Group, My CCO has a transmission noise. It is not really that bad but wanted to know if the thumping noise is normal or am I due for rebuild. Most noticabally in 1st and reverse. Also my CC 70 has the same noise but just in 2nd gear. Thump Thump Thump.... :Help: |
|
I would take the shifter off and see if any of the gears are missing a tooth. |

OK I will pull the shifter tomorrow. If I do not find a bad gear, could it be a bad bearing? Is there a ring gear like in a car rearend? Is it possible that the mower sat with moisture"Water" in the trans and rusted a spot on the gear? |

Ahh, Thumping noise,More than likely and more likely, your first and reverse idler gear is missing some teeth.Or you are missing a tooth on the first and reverse gears...or both. |

Hello Group, I have not pulled the rear end cover or the shifter to see what is making the noise yet but thought since I was going into town tomorrow I would get replacement oil-fluid for the rear axle so it would be on-hand for when I do. What gear oil should I buy for the rear axle of my original CC? Thanks in advance for your reply. Oh. Is the rear axle cover gasket available at CC dealer? |

Hytran. The rear cover gasket can be obtained from CC or from a CaseIH dealer, same for the the Hytran. You can also get Hytran from a Case construction equipment dealer, too. |
