Wondering if the brake caliper and pads from a 86 will fit a 1650?

Yes, but I would replace both sides because there were 3 or 4 different styles of external brakes used on these things, and the parts may or may not be interchangeable between them.

sounds good thanks Matt I'll give it a try since the 86 is just a roller and has been sitting around for over 10 years anyway. Just way to many projects but I'd hate to see her go
