Need more 109 help

Sold a nice Wheelhorse 257h to buy the non running 109 hoping to have a nice tractor but now i wish i had the WH back and never seen a Cub Cadet.Every time i fix something on the Cub something else gives me trouble.

Got the 109 running and working but go to engage the blades and the deck is locked up.The left outer spindle locks down whenever the blade is tightened.Take the blade off and deck turns fine. Makes no sense to me. How is the blade stacked on the spindle? There is a small rubber like washer between the blade and spindle and a big flat washer and nut on the bottom side. No matter how i stack stuff the blade still locks up when you tighten the nut.

Do you have the service manual for the deck/tractor? It shows a cross-sectional view of the spindle. Is there some twine or something wrapped around the spindle?

Don't give up now....any machine this old is going to have a bunch of parts that are near/at the end of their life...once you fix everything, it's going to be worth it.

Once you get the bugs worked out of the 109, it will put that WH 257H to shame. The 257H is a nice mower, but that's about all it is. The 109 is a real garden tractor while the 257H is more of a yard tractor. But I hear ya - I have done some trading that had my wife shaking her head.

Took off the LH spindle and one of the bearings is bad. Can someone post a pic of the parts diagram of the spindle along with bearing numbers?

Since we don't know what style of spindle you have, try this:

If it's the style that has 2 tapered roller bearings, the bearings are the same as the front wheel bearings in many 1970's full-size GM cars. At least that's what I've been told. They look exactly the same.

The deck no. is 422u1113 and need diagram for outer LH spindle.

Diagram to go with the PM I sent you, since it won't go in there for some reason.
