Creeper Questions

OK, so the new to me 1200 has the extra lever for the creeper, however, there is 2 detents for the shift lever, BUT the lever goes far past the forward detent for the standard drive, and moving toward the rear brings nothing but neutral (maybe a tiny bit of gear noise, hard to tell)

I've done a bit of searching here, doesn't seem to be much chatter about "common problems" with these, so before I go thru the work of pulling it off to peek inside, is there common problems?

Schematic seems to show a roll pin type of retainer, tying the lever to the shift fork. I'm guessing that's my problem.

Thoughts from the experts? Input from the novices?

I've been inside a few of those, and it's probably either the roll pin that connects the shift lever to the shift yoke, or wear on the shift yoke itself. It's time to take it off, take it apart, and see what's going on. The big issues are wear in the spirol pin hole in the input shaft and the things I told you to check above.

Make sure you get the service manual before you take it apart so you don't break anything. These aren't too complex, but there are a lot of things that have to be reassembled in the correct orientation (which won't be obvious by looking at the parts) so the manual is a must.

Thanks Matt!

I've got the tractor service manual downloaded, is there another manual or is that one complete enough?

The chassis service manual should have everything you need.
