1882 Acquired ran fine now no start
 

Hoping for some thoughts….
Acquired a 1991 1882 this week. Been playing around mowing a bit with it and it’s great. Found an owners manual and saw the array of warning lights. I wanted to see if they all worked so I parked it, turned it off and then put it a bit in reverse and threw the PTO on in hopes of making those two indicators light up. Instead I now have a no start situation, noticing when I turn the key. What have I done???? Feeling kinda silly for trying. Thanks in advance for any guidance.

Does it turn over? If not try these things.

Check the fuse.

There are only 2 switches in the start circuit. The brake switch and the PTO switch.

Try cycling the PTO switch and brake switch a few times when trying to start it.

If the above doesn't work it's time to get the meter out.

Thanks Oak. Had nothing when turning the key. Flipped the switches back and forth and still nothing. Pulled the fuse and neither myself or the guy at the auto parts store could see it was blown but a new one installed and I’m back running. Appreciate the wiring diagram too!

Hah! I almost lost my job over a fuse whose indicator showed it was blown when it really wasn't.
When I removed the (indicated blown) un-blown fuse, I knocked out a major communications link. Needless to say the poop hit the fan.
Investigation of the matter proved my innocence, but if you've ever heard the saying "he was sweating putty balls" it is not an exaggeration.
