Double deck pulley on a lt1018 42"deck replacement
 

Okay I am getting very frustrated with installing a new double deck drive pulley on the 42" deck on a LT1018. The bottom bearings keep burning out. I first replaced just the bearings then I replaced the whole pulley (51 in drawing) and installed new bearings/c clips/washer/spacer(43/25/37/47) as well. Burnt them out. then I replaced with a whole new pulley that included the bearings already. Burnt the bottom bearings out again. The first two times I thought I may have tightened the mounting bolt too much but the third time I torqued them to around 30. It spun without much tension.

Where are you getting your bearings from? I see some bearing kits available on Amazon in what they call "c3 upgrade"... but some might say you've got Scamazon....who knows?

I generally prefer to get my bearings from reputable bearing companies such as Timken, SKF, NTN and etc.... and with the proper seals.
