Standard leak

I have a Linamar zx390 that has blown its gear cover for the 3rd time. AI tells me to sand the cover on a flat surface to straighten out the results of any warpage, then reassemble using HondaBond without the gasket.

Should I do that? What about the crank and cam end play?
