3206 oil leak
 

3206 with 20hp Kohler dripping oil while mowing. It is dripping on to the front of the mower deck. It is dripping off the plate under the motor. I am assuming it is the crank seal. Is this a common issue with these motors? I have the service manual and am going to pull the motor soon.

I have pulled the motor and it appears the leak is from the crankcase/oil pan. I haven't taken it apart yet but I can see that sealant was used, not sure if there is a gasket. When googling, ai says that the factory stopped using gaskets and went to a sealant. In the parts list for a Kohler CH20S they don't show a gasket. But google says to use a gasket. I did order one from Amazon. Also according to google, the crankcase/oil pan leak is common.
