K321 No Balance Shafts
 

Were any of the K321 engines produced without the balance shafts and gears?

I just removed the oil pan from one and no shafts or gears. This is a single owner engine and he bought it new from a local dealer. He says the engine has never had any work or repairs done to it.

Once upon a time.....

The balance gears were introduced in the K series at some point in the 1960's and then eventually phased out somewhat in the quietline years, particularly the K321AQS. I don't know the full history.

It's better not to have them... be happy!

I have 3 321s and none of them had the balance gears. 124, and 125 models.

I have a K-301 in a 125,it doesn't even have the factory machining for the gears
