Narrow frame rear gear box for tiller to 1650

I have a 147 with finicky electric lift. Tried cleaning ,new switch. Anyway my 1650 hydraulic lift works well. I looked at both rears. Can the rear gear box for the tiller be mounted on the 1650? Then just use mule drive for 1650? Belt length? Thanks Bob.

The tiller should mount up fine but you will have to mod the mule drive or build another one to match the width of the frame on the 1650 as that series is a wide frame.

I have a spare mule drive for the 1650 that is on the tractor now.

Both the 147 and 1650 used the same gearbox mount that attaches to the rearend.
If you already have a mule drive for the 1650 you can use the hanger assembly with pulleys off of it. I assume the belt for the 1650 tiller package would also work. Most local stores that sell v belts will exchange them for another length belt if they have not been used.
GOOD LUCK !

Yes, but is his 1650 mule drive CORRECT for a tiller with pullies parallel with the centerline of the tractor and NOT angled as if for a 44 or 50" deck??
I'm sure that very long and expen$ive tiller drive belt will not take kindly to running askew for long.

The pictures I can find show that the idler arms were not bent for the offset decks till the 82 series tractors. And if they were all that needs to be done is to remove the idler pulleys from the idler arms and straighten arms with a large crescent wrench. Problem solved???

The belt lengths unfortunately are not the same. The 147 would use a 143+” and the 1650 uses a 145”

Thanks guys. I'll check out the angled pulleys.

If your 1650 has or had a 44 or 50" deck on it at one time, it will have angled pullies as these decks were also available for the later 82 series.

It has the 50 " deck. Nice, but around trees I have to be very vigilant I've hooked it a few times. I'll have to use the narrow frame from what you guys said. Now getting it done.still the 2082 project, frame reenforcements, drilling return holes. I'm retired and cant find time.I have so many projects!!
