XT1 Smoking at Start Up
 

Hello and thank you for having me in this forum!

I have a XT1 with the AX90HUB Cub Cadet 547cc (by MTD ???) engine and I have had to rebuild it. This mower has the Intellipower system for the carb/throttle. I rebuilt it with new connecting rod, camshaft, rings, valve guide, honed cylinder, lapped valves, adjusted lash, - - about everything. New carb too. It runs perfect except . . . Oil level is correct.

When I cold start it, it smokes for 10-15 seconds like it has a blown head gasket. It is a bluish smoke and I believe it is over-fueling after starting (granted it is 40ish degrees here) and the choke is not opening fast enough. After the 15 sec, it is perfect and runs great. Overfueling is just a guess.... tough to tell where the choke flap is.

Anyone else come across this??? I cannot find anything on my searches.

Bluish smoke usually indicates oil burning. It is Black smoke that indicates overfueling or too rich.

I know nothing about intellipower or the engines supplied by MTD.
