Questions
I am excited about restoring the family CC and for the most part I prefer to keep things original and correct. I will have many questions along the way, looking for help, advice, opinion, comments, etc.
Let's get started !! I have done some homework, acquired some parts, came across a sweet 108 full of donor parts, etc. There are a few things I'm not sure of yet though. I need some front tires. I've been surfing thru this site and I've not come across anything such as opinion or pics of the Vredestine 5 rib front tires. V61's. I realize they are not original to Cubs and they are a bit pricey. I think they would look good on one but I've not seen any pics of a CC with them. Give me some feedback, what do you guys think about them ? |

Well, I took the fenders, deck and some small things off the 108 to exchange with the 1000 as I am in the gathering good parts process. Dad has me under pressure to get the 108 back to him, he has a green mower that keeps breaking down on him, lol.
I am in north middle Tenn on the Ky line. Dale Hollow Lake area. |
I think it's really great to have/restore a tractor that you have history with. The guys here will be able to help you with any questions/problems that you may have along the way.
Since you brought it up... you may want to consider doing something else with your 108. Although they look similar, the 108 and the 1000 are very different in so many ways, very few parts will interchange between the two. |
Thanks Sam,
So far, from the 108, I plan to use the fenders, lift arm parts, tunnel cover, maybe the deck, rear tires, seat. All of these in really nice condition on the 108. I looked at your website. Looks like you might have some things I could use. I will know when I get further into the 1000. I know it was parked primarily because the clutch had issues. |
