1872 Repower

Hello guys, I've been thinking about repowering my super for a while now. Love the M18 but she has always been a hard one to start even on a warm day. I'd like to stick with Kohler if I can but I'm looking at a CH730 or CH740. Probably won't mow with her anymore but want to keep that option open. I'm kind of building a monster pushing machine if I can. Any input is appreciated

Well since you asked,---- Keep the M-18 and fix the starting issue! :beerchug:
I have never had an issue starting an M-18 in warm weather, or cold.
Make sure the choke closes tightly and that you are not leaking fuel out of the bowl causing it to have to crank over till it fills the bowl with fuel, and that you are getting spark.

In cold weather I do have an issue with my 782 mower because I bought a cheap
$18 magneto coil made in CHI-NNA, off ebay, and it has less copper windings in it.
Thus I have to crank it faster to produce spark, using a jumper Bat-tree
One of these days I might have to remove the engine for some reason and that coil is going to get replaced and I'm gonna fling it like baby poop!
But, since I don't mow in the winter, it's not a priority. :bigthink:

I agree with George. Adjust your valves and do some maintenance on it and it should run great.
