Carburetor Baffle Gasket Purpose?
1 Attachment(s)
I have been wondering, what is the purpose of the "baffle gasket" in the carb? What does it do? Carb diagram attached.

That's a baffling question.

It helps to keep the fuel in the bowl from splashing around excessivly in a rough usage situation, that can cause a rich mixture/flooding.
There is also a very light hair spring in the bottom of some bowls that try to push the float closed in a rough terrain enviroment, but it is a light enough spring that the weight of the float can still drop to allow fuel past the needle valve. To sum it up, its a means of keeping fuel at the proper level in the float bowl. |
The BAFFLE gasket keeps fuel from sloshing into the atmospheric vent.
