New member from PA- story of my CC 3206

Hi all,
My name is Tom. I teach 7-12 instrumental music in central(ish) PA and at a local university. When I'm not teaching, I'm rebuilding cars and tractors. I've owned dozens of Cubs over the years, but currently own a CC 128 w/creeper and recently sold my newer XT2 in favor of a 3206. I picked up the 3206 for $500 and was told it was serviced regularly and needed nothing. That wasn't true, but the price was great so I couldn't complain. The 3206 needed a full service and a new rear diff lock cable. I've performed a couple of the "speed mods" to make it go faster and it runs/mowers absolutely perfectly. Unless I'm misinformed, I believe a previous owner swapped in a Kohler 22hp motor since they came with a 20hp engine. I know it's an MTD product but have no complaints about build quality or reliability. A few weeks back, I picked up a GT3200 on Marketplace for $120. The motor ran great but the hydro wasn't working. The sheet metal though was really nice. I swapped everything over onto my 3206, which is why the tail lights are different. Both lenses were absent from my 3206, and at over $100 each... no thank you. I picked these lights up at Harbor Freight for $6 for the pair. Finally, I welded up a hitch for the back to pull my 6X12 trailer around. I've been impressed by the strength of the BDU-21L hydro. Thanks for checking it out! |

Hello Tom...Welcome to the OCC website! You will find a lot of great information about most anything to do with Cub Cadets from very experienced members who enjoy Cubs as much as yourself! The best thing is that members are willing to take time to share their knowledge with everyone on the site to further the interest (addiction) of all cub lovers.
I am a retired Instrumental Music teacher from the Western NY area near Batavia. I started out teaching 4 - 12 instrumental then switched over to general music and guitar instruction. I retired after 32 years. Over that time I have been working on Cub Cadets, cars and also had a custom woodworking/furniture business for many years. Everyone in my family is a musician! The oldest has a recording studio in Nashville, TN. We've had a lot of fun over the years with everything... Glad to have you on our OCC team! P.S. Your rig looks great! Love the tail lights and that sweet looking hitch!! Again, welcome and have fun! :biggrin2: |
Thank you Gary! I've been teaching for just over 20 years. I started my career teaching in the Adirondacks before moving back to the Syracuse area where I grew up. I've been in PA for about 15 years now.
Glad to know I'm not the only musician around! :P |
Nice looking 3000 series Tom. I have 5 of the 3000 series machines and I really like them too. They are great mowing machines. Welcome to OCC.
