PTO acting wonky
2544 GT My PTO starting to act weird. It was engaged upon startup and would not disengage unless I lifted off the seat. When disengaged It would engage but not disengage! I cleaned the switch connection and cleaned the fuses
Any experience such behavior? Any ideas Thanks |
Please explain what you mean by "It was engaged upon startup".
Does that mean it was already engaged when you started the tractor, or it engaged itself when you started the tractor, or you engaged it after you started the tractor? |
Tractor started and blade was engaged with switch in.

You either have a wiring issue or bearings starting to fail in your PTO. Probably a wiring issue the way you explain it. Do you have a meter and know how to use it? Here is a wiring diagram of the 2544's but I'm not sure which year yours is.

I do and I do, will track it down, thanks

When I pull the 2 wire plug off from the pto, it remains engaged. Would I be correct in thinking I have a bearing seized in the clutch?
